Café Ancora D´Ouro has long been affectionately called “Café Piolho”. In fact, no one knows the reason for such a designation, but the theories are many. One of them is that the cafe was frequented by the students of the university, but the teachers also went there and the coexistence was somewhat ceremonious. Then someone started to say that this was a “foolishness”. Opened since 1909, the café is a meeting point for students; it was a mandatory stop for poets, politicians, activists, among others. It is a cafe that is part of Porto’s history, where you can have a drink, snack and dine, even after hours. Try the francesinha or sarrabulho porridge, from a varied offer.

Never has eating cereals had so many options: there are about 120 cereals and 40 toppings. The colourful walls, full of cereal boxes and the cereal menu attract the youngest, but not only. If you do not want to leave the diet you also have healthy options. The combinations have three sizes: S, three cereals and two toppings, M, four cereals and three toppings, and L, five cereals and three toppings. To go with this there is milk, yoghurt, almond milk, to name a few. There are also pre-defined combinations on the menu. The Fitness option is meant to please those who count calories. Cereal World Porto works as a coffee shop and has hot drinks and cold drinks, as well as milkshakes and a variety of toasts for snacks.

On April 25, 1947, Vicente Peres founded the Sical-Coffee Importer Society. A few years later, the Sical Cafeteria took another step, starting to serve coffee by the cup and continues with the transformation of the place into a cultural landmark, enriching its walls, in 1964, with two tile panels by Júlio Resende. In 2017, the master António Bessa, apprentice of Julio Resende, adds to the estate of the house another work. Confeitaria SICAL is currently a modern space with a relaxed atmosphere that complements the sophisticated views of downtown Porto with its own brand coffee. You can go with a refined pastry, varied sandwiches, toasts, natural juices and teas.
